About The Program

The Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. annually hosts its Frederick Douglass Black History Scholars Bowl.  The Scholars Bowl is named in honor of fraternity brother Frederick Douglass.  The event will forever bear his name.

African-American history is an important part of American History and should be taught to all of our youth.  America’s youth today are not as aware of many of the important contributions African-Americans have made in our society and the world at-large.  Phi Lambda’s intention is to help enhance awareness by providing supplemental information that is (or is not) being taught in schools.  The organization is holds this event to provide an outlet that will reward youth for learning and communicating that history.
